There is five inches of snow and England is shutting down. Life here is in a state of pause.

Traditional-smalishional.

Yesterday was a long day of travel. Up at 7 to eat breakfast at 7:30, where we would steal our lunch for the day (our hotel had breakfast included so we have been eating croissants, apples, & traditional portuguese muffin). Anyways, we finally arrived in Lisbon, Portugal at 1 pm, after a 4 hour train ride from Faro. Our hostel here is nice, home-y. Girls from Finland and a man from Argentina sing and play songs at night; it’s lively and fun.

I titled unexpected because of one instance last night and the entire reason for why I am posting. I had a really traditional meal. It’s name was feijoada. She dominated me. The dished consisted of the following: beans, cabbage, carrots, pig fat, chorizo, and a little slice of ham. I nearly threw up. Now the pig fat wasn’t just the little bit of fat you find on your slice of ham but it was literally the fat with skin on it. It was thick. It was slime-y. It dominated me. Oh I forgot to mention I has a pig hoof in there as well. Bon appetite!
